Scale of 1-10, 1 being best and 10 being worst. Criteria:
Linguistic intelligence
Spatial intelligence
Environmental intelligence
Musical intelligence
Kinesthetic intelligence
Logical/mathematical intelligence
Interpersonal intelligence
Intrapersonal intelligence
Linguistic intelligence is defined as the way we use language, and the way we read and understand what we read. Society views linguistic intelligence as the single most important factor when determining intelligence. Tenshiro’s linguistic intelligence is at about a 1. For his age, he is extremely gifted in his abilities to comprehend language; in fact, the only thing that separates him from being intellectually gifted is the factor of an IQ test. He is extremely adept at reading, comprehending and retaining what he read which is the reason he excels in school so easily. His vocabulary is also much more developed than that of your average 16 year old boy, partially due in part to his grandfather Avshalom. His method of speech is very sophisticated compared to your average teenage boy in that he’s able to fluently comprehend two languages (but speaks only Japanese perfectly) and he’s even able to properly annunciate what he says.
Spatial intelligence is the ability to comprehend space in everyday life, and it’s heavily tied to activities that require manipulation (such as puzzle solving, art, etc.) Tenshiro’s abilities here rank at about a 3. He’s not exactly spatially ignorant, but it’s not his best attribute. He’s adept at solving puzzles, and if he tried he would probably be a rather capable artist but he chooses not to bother with such things. He’s far from a space case, as well. In fact, he rarely ever spaces out and maintains total awareness of his surroundings unless something drastic happens to change this fact.
Environmental intelligence incorporates spatial intelligence, but also takes into account an understanding of the environment. Here, Tenshiro ranks at a 1. Because of his knowledge of astrology thanks to his parents’ upbringing and tradition, he is easily able to read the stars in the sky and can recognize each one. Because he is usually completely aware of his surroundings and processes them easily, he rarely ever lacks understanding of whether or not an environment will be harmful or beneficial to him. He also does not get lost very easily.
Musical intelligence applies to anything relating to music. This is probably one of Tenshiro’s worst attributes, as he ranks in at about a 7. It’s not that he doesn’t understand music, or isn’t musically inclined, it just isn’t really something that he cares very much about. Due to his high spatial skills, he could probably play an instrument if he tried but he has never really wanted to try.
Kinesthetic intelligence is intelligence in movement, such as athletics or dance. Tenshiro ranks in at about a 3, here. He’s pretty coordinated in his movements and also somewhat athletic because he ran track for a few years in America and continues to run when he gets the chance. Take into the account that he’s good with his hands and has good coordination, and it’s not really difficult to reason that he’d get such a high score here.
Logical and mathematical intelligence relates to numbers, such as money and other things involving numerical knowledge. Tenshiro’s at about a 5 here. Numbers aren’t his forte, but he’s not exactly bad with them either. Math is probably his worst subject but not one he does abominably horrible at.
Interpersonal intelligence takes into account how someone relates to others, and how others relate to that person. It’s difficult to say how Tenshiro relates here because for him, the two have very different scores but combined together I would say he functions at about a 1. He’s easily able to empathize with others, see where they’re coming from and comprehend their points of view through careful consideration. However, others seldom relate to him because of these things. He has rather high emotional intelligence and incredible perception skills for a boy his age, and it causes him to become quite isolated because of it.
Intrapersonal intelligence is the ability to understand oneself, one’s authenticity and the personas one puts on in life. Here is Tenshiro’s worst area, ranking in at about a 6. Because of the position he’s been forced into by his parents, Tenshiro has greatly lost sight of himself and it’s often difficult for him to distinguish what he does because he wants to do it, and what he does because his parents think he should do it. It’s also difficult for him to be honest with himself in his desires when he knows from the beginning that a majority of them will never be met. This causes him to appear authentic to others, but completely unauthentic to himself. It’s hard to say he puts on personas, but he’s by no means honest with everyone that he meets.
All-in-all, Tenshiro’s an extremely gifted boy. With his high linguistic, environmental, spatial, and interpersonal intelligence it’s really not difficult to see why he chooses to be by himself and why the only good friend he ever had was Hana, nor is it really hard to see why he fell for her. He has his areas where he falters, but when it comes right down to it he is much, much smarter than he lets on.
